A week at moveo
14th July 2025
This past week I had the joy of returning to Barcelona to train with Moveo, diving into the art of Decroux corporeal mime. It was a physically demanding, spiritually charged experience and a powerful homecoming.
In class, we tackled the “cup figure”, a form that demands absolute control and intention in the body, a deceptively simple structure that reveals everything about your presence, balance, and focus. It reminded me why physical theatre has such depth: it speaks before words do.
I also spent time exploring a city that was once my home. Having trained at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona in 2018-2019, I spent many days walking through El Born and the Parc de la Ciutadella and watching the waves in Sitges. It was so moving to return to this place where so much of my artistic practice was formed.
One of the highlights was reconnecting with Armando Rotondi, my former Head of Masters. We caught up over dinner, and, as always, fell into big conversations about theatre, training, and artistic process.
I’m returning with a sore body, a buzzing mind, and a renewed love for movement. I can’t wait to integrate what I’ve learned into my own creative practice and to continue exploring how the body tells truth on stage and screen.
