The Pretty Procedure is a visceral new live performance work exploring the medicalised body, girlhood, and the pressure to be beautiful. Inspired by personal experience of facial deformity, jaw surgery and body dysmorphia, The Pretty Procedure navigates beauty, shame, and the surreal spaces between diagnosis and transformation.
After early development with Cork Theatre Collective and GAP DAY, Tzarini has been awarded funding by Tipperary Arts Office to develop her ideas further at The Source Arts Centre, Thurles. Working with director Al Dalton and actor Gerry Cannon, she will present a work-in-progress sharing in September.
Tzarini's debut feature screenplay, A Girl in Wolf’s Clothing was selected for Facing In / Out – Stowe Story Labs at Galway Film Fleadh - an international development programme for screenwriters.
Struggling to keep her family together in a fading rural Irish town, a lonely teenage girl finds first love and belonging in a pack of disaffected youths, but their obsession with an ancient Irish myth threatens to consume them all.
A coming-of-age folk horror that explores the dark intersections of belonging, transformation and myth in contemporary rural Ireland.
